Sure, she’s sultry but Eva Zekova's sex appeal isn’t limited to her photogenic persona; aficioandos are equally enamored with her genuine appreciation of the Horror Cinema. Not only familiar with popular icons, Zekova is fond of giallo and European actresses, all of whom are linked to the genre but saddled with anonymity in U.S. quarters. Her turn-offs: torture porn and cheesy slasher clones. Collaborating with fledgling filmmaker Vince Corkadel, the model is developing an aptitude for acting; the duo recently wrapped RESTLESS, a vignette about a grieving woman who is haunted by the ghost of her late lover. Acclimating herself to low budgets, the 24-year-old beauty may opt for an apprenticeship as a director. Here’s your opportunity to view the blonde’s on-camera presence...
Favorite horror movies? I would have to say that, after 2006, my all time favorite film is Del Toro's PAN'S LABYRINTH. The elements of horror, fantasy, and drama--combined with perfect storytelling--make it fantastic! I also love THE LIVING DEAD AT MANCHESTER MORGUE and pretty much anything by Jean Rollin and Guillermo Del Toro.
Worst horror film? Pretty much any remake within the last 3 years...haha
Favorite actress who's linked to the genre? There are so many good ones from the 70's and 80's but I'd have to go with Brigitte Lahaie...and her awesome boobs. A close second would be Barbara Crampton in Stuart Gordon's RE-ANIMATOR.
Favorite actor who's linked to genre films? Udo Kier.
Favorite boogeyman (or boogeywoman)? That's an easy one...the original "boogeyman" himself, HALLOWEEN's Michael Myers.
Favorite female character? Once again, the crown goes to Brigitte Lahaie and her role as Eva (wink, wink) in Jean Rollin's FASCINATION.
Favorite director? Del Toro again...but I also like the work of Dario Argento and Stuart Gordon.
The scene, from a horror film, that genuinely frightened you? Ever since I saw LIVING DEAD AT MANCHESTER MORGUE, one scene has stuck with me. It creeped me out when Cristina Galbó's character encounters the water soaked zombie for the first time. Scary stuff.
Favorite sexy or erotic scene from a horror movie? I think that INTERVIEW WITH A VAMPIRE, as a whole, was very erotic. Some of the scenes between Brad Pitt and Antonio Banderas' characters had very strong homoerotic undertones.
Your comments regarding women's roles in the genre? I think that there are not enough strong female leads. Too many of them are just there to scream and get killed. When you do have a female lead, the character could usually be interchangeable with a man.
Why do horror films appeal to you? Sometimes I just like being creeped out....it's good for the body.
Do you sleep in the nude? When it's hot I sleep in bra and panties but never in the nude..too cliché..hahah!!
