Michael Straczynski announced a few days ago that he is writing the screenplay adaptation of the zombie book WORLD WAR Z for Paramount. The Max Brooks novel, which was optioned last summer by the studio for Brad Pitt's production company Plan B, is subtitled An Oral History of the Zombie War. Since the book is an anthology that features no main character or plot, it needs to be re-worked for the screen said Straczynski. The writer also said that when writing the screenplay, he stays very true to the book, even on a letter by letter basis when he can. We'll see what, but from the sounds of it, we may be able to expect a cool zombie flick coming our way sooner or later.

Right, even more remakes on the way.. Variety reports that Dimension Films has closed a deal to remake David Cronenberg's SCANNERS ( review) from 1981. What is quite cool about this remake though is that it'll be directed by Darren Lynn Bousman (SAW II-III and upcoming SAW IV) and will be scripted by David Goyer (BLADE series, BATMAN BEGINS).
The story revolves around a scientist who infiltrates an underground movement of "scanners," whose telepathic abilities make them lethal weapons. The original was best remembered for an exploding head finale
Production will start in early 2008 and the film will probably be released later that same year.

Darklight: Women Direct Horror is a new program that the British digital movie company Warp has started to get more female directors behind the cameras. According to David Cronenberg, Nicholas Cage is vying for the part of THE FLY in the planned remake of the awesome film from 1986.
PR-Inside says that "Cronenberg, who is working on an operatic version of the creepy man-insect story, will not be involved in the remake, but he has been kept abreast of developments. He tells E! 'From what I hear, Nic Cage wants the part.'"

TLA Releasing will be release the film PERVERT! upon the world on March 27. Directed by Jonathan Yudis, the film stars Mary Carey who I don't think would be the best kind of governor, but at least she's hot and that counts for a lot in my book, (yes, I'm quite shallow.)
Ok, so the ex-gubernatorial candidate heads a cast of scantily-clad, buxom vixens whose tops are popping amidst a devious serial killer wreaking havoc by splattering buckets of gore. Perpetually horny James (Sean Andrews) is spending the summer with his bible-preaching, whore-loving father when gruesome deaths, objectifying sculptures and a sexy lesbian nurse disrupt his visit.
Retail price is $19.99 and the movie is presented in anamorphic 1.85:1 widescreen with Dolby Digital 5.1 sound. Below are the full specs:
* Audio commentary by Yudis
* The Making of PERVERT! featurette
* Extended scene
* Blooper reel
* Three trailers (Sex, Death and Freedom)
