Lack of news - here’s why...
Due to a way too busy schedule there will be no time to be filling Evil Dread with daily news updates anymore. But since the net's already swarming with horror sites that are basically presenting the very same news on a daily basis, I guess it won't matter much anyway. When there's something actually worth reporting, it'll be reported but as for now we'll put the news updates on ice. There'll still be reviews and other things happening so keep checking back for that and the news might come back after summer or something, we'll see.

1408 Final Poster Art
Below is the brand new and final poster art for 1408. Based on the short Stephen King horror story of the same name, 1408 surrounds supernatural writer Mike Enslin, an author of two hit books focusing on supernatural phenomena. As research for his latest book, Enslin is determined to check out the notorious room 1408 in a New York City hotel by personally staying as a guest in the fabled room. With the intention that 1408 is just a myth perpetuated by stories and rumor that Enslin has collected for his past works. However, hotel manager Mr. Olin has strong objections to Enslin's stay and only warns him of possible danger to come. But Enslin is determined to go through and convinced that the horrific past of 1408 is just mere coincidence and a myth. But what Mike Enslin is about to experience is no myth, as 1408 truly is a room where the guests don't check out by noon.

Directed by Mikael Håfström, 1408 stars John Cusack, Samuel L. Jackson and Mary McCormack, and is scheduled for release on June 22nd, 2007.

New Horror Hotty: Melissa Rollo
Voluptuous model Melissa Rollo summons flashbacks to 50s grindhouse icons...Nan Peterson (HIDEOUS SUN DEMON), Irish McCalla, Allison Hayes, Marla English, Pamela Duncan. Ms. Rollo, however, is deflecting the "screamer" stereotype. Sexy and ebullient, she breaches the darkness with an irradiant sense of humor. Forfeiting self-indulgence and the counterfeit wispiness tagged to bombshells, Rollo quells her scorching presence with a genuine warmth...she's all natural.

Frank Miller to write, direct "Spirit"
The SpiritLionsgate has acquired domestic and U.K. distribution rights to THE SPIRIT, a live adaptation of the classic Will Eisner comicbook series. Frank Miller wrote the script and will direct.

Deal marks the start of a multipicture pact under which Lionsgate and Odd Lot Entertainment will co-finance and co-produce together. Odd Lot partners Gigi Pritzker and Deborah Del Prete are showing a finished script by Miller and will broker overseas territories during Cannes.

The Spirit is a man who fakes his own death so he can fight crime from the shadows of Central City. His nemesis is the Octopus, who kills those unlucky enough to see his face and is looking to wipe out the entire city. Miller, who first got behind the camera to co-direct "Sin City" with Robert Rodriguez, will make "The Spirit" his first solo helming effort. Miller created the graphic novels that were adapted into the films "Sin City" and "300," and the production start of "The Spirit" will be influenced by the start date of the "Sin City" sequel that Miller will make with Rodriguez.

"Will was a dear friend, a mentor, and translating his vision to the screen will be a labor of love," Miller said."The Spirit" will be produced by Pritzker and Del Prete, along with Lionsgate's Mike Paseornek and Batfilm's Michael Uslan. Benjamin Melniker will exec produce with Steve Maier, and Linda McDonough and F.J. DeSanto are co-producers.

Frank Miller's "vision is perfectly matched to that of Eisner," said Lionsgate Theatrical Films prexy Tom Ortenberg.
