Do you like John Cleese? Of course you do, and therefore you may be happy to hear that the old Monty Python legend is in negotiations to join the cast of Fox's remake of the 1951 sci-fi classic THE DAY THE EARTH STOOD STILL. IGN says that Cleese will play physicist Dr. Barnhardt, a Nobel Prize laureate who plays a key part in figuring out the mission and meaning of the arrival of the alien Klaatu. Helmed by Scott Derrickson, THE DAY THE EARTH STOOD STILL stars Keanu Reeves, Jennifer Connelly, Jaden Smith, Kathy Bates, and Jon Hamm. The film will see the light of day on December 12, 2008.
