Rue Morgue Cinema follows up its two award-winning films The Eyes of Edward James and The Demonology of Desire with the groundbreaking new film THE FACTS IN THE CASE OF MISTER HOLLOW, set to premiere as an Official Selection of the 2008 Fantasia Film Festival (July 17 Montreal, Canada), the Puchon International Fantastic Film Festival (July 19-24 Puchon, Korea) and Fantastic Fest 5 (Sep 18-25 Austin, Texas).
Written by Rue Morgue president Rodrigo Gudiņo and directed by Gudiņo and award-winning visual artist Vincent Marcone (MyPetSkeleton.com), THE FACTS IN THE CASE OF MISTER HOLLOW is a lyrical and creepy short that Firefox News calls "formally stunning" and "diabolical". The film was produced by Marco Pecota with the assistance of BravoFACT! (Foundation to Assist Canadian Talent).
"Making this film was an exotic adventure since I had never done anything like it, and I am very happy with the results," commented Gudiņo. "It was also a pleasure working with BravoFACT! who believed in the project from the beginning."
"The challenge within this piece was to slowly unveil a minacious little tale that speaks through a set of cascading details," commented Vincent Marcone. "Rodrigo and I treated the unveiled imagery as it had a voice... as if it were supported by an unspoken soliloquy."
An image that tells an entire story, THE FACTS IN THE CASE OF MISTER HOLLOW centers on a single photograph that dates back to the early 1930s. As the camera begins to investigate the particulars of the photo, however, it reveals a tapestry of secrets hidden in the details, and a tale of murder, kidnapping and sacrifice captured in a haunting moment.
"Vincent and I wanted to make something unique and beautiful and also darkly disturbing," said Gudiņo, "and we hope to have achieved that with this film."
THE FACTS IN THE CASE OF MISTER HOLLOW stars Julian Richings (Kingdom Hospital, Wrong Turn) and newcomers Alan Alderton, Lea Lawrynowicz and Tony Morrone, and features cinematography by Walter Pacifico (The Eyes of Edward James).
