A downloadable teaser trailer for is to be found here and the film's official site is located here. Below is a synopsis for THE ORPHANAGE.
"Laura spent the happiest years of her childhood growing up in an orphanage by the seaside, cared for by the staff and fellow orphans whom she loved as brothers and sisters. Now, thirty years later, she returns with her husband Carlos and Simon, their 7-year-old son, with a dream of restoring and reopening the long-abandoned orphanage as a home for disabled children. The new home and mysterious surroundings awaken Simon's imagination, and the boy starts to spin a web of fantastic tales and not-so-innocent games... a troubling web that begins to disturb Laura, drawing her into the child's strange universe which resonates with echoes of long-forgotten, deeply unsettling memories of her own childhood. As the opening day draws near, tension builds within the family. Carlos remains sceptical, believing that Simon is making everything up in a desperate bid for attention. But Laura slowly becomes convinced that something long-hidden and terrible is lurking in the old house, something waiting to emerge and inflict appalling damage on her family."

24framespersecond.net reports that Yasushi Akimoto, the dude who wrote the Chakushin Ari novel, or maybe better known on this side of the world as ONE MISSED CALL is working on a new horror film called Densen Uta which translates to "The Deadly Song" but that will go under the English title of GLOOMY SUNDAY.
So in accordance to the direct translation of the title, the film will tell the story of a song that is said to cause death whenever it is sung. "Members the pop group AKB48 will star as high school students who discover the song by chance, while Ryuhei Matsuda will play the character of a hack reporter trying to find the truth behind the song." Apparently the very story of the film is based on an urban legend surrounding the Hungarian song "Gloomy Sunday," which was alleged to have caused multiple suicides.
GLOOMY SUNDAY will open in Japan in August and its official site is to be found here, but as for now there's really nothing on it so if interested, bookmark it and check back later.

Director John Erick Dowdle who's chiller THE POUGHKEEPSIE TAPES had its world premiere this weekend at New York City’s Tribeca Film Festival sent Fango a couple of stills, as seen below, from his film. The movie presents the horrific exploits of a serial killer through videotaped images he has captured himself. “The thing that most attracted Drew—the producing half of The Brothers Dowdle—and me to this project was the chance to submerge ourselves into a truly subjective film,” says Dowdle and continues, "With HALLOWEEN, John Carpenter revolutionized the horror genre by shooting scenes exclusively from the killer’s point of view. When the young Michael Myers butchers his older sister, we watch her die through the eyeholes of his Halloween mask. It’s one of the most memorable—and creepy—horror scenes of all time."
“Our movie takes the terror of subjectivity a step further, because the Poughkeepsie Tapes killer actually shot the footage himself with a video camera. Whether he is stalking a victim or dismembering a body, we see what he sees. Anyone captured by this killer’s camera is in immediate danger,” says Dowdle. Wanna know more? Then check out THE POUGHKEEPSIE TAPES official site here and its MySpace Page , and last but not least, you can watch a trailer for the film over at YouTube .

Sci Fi Wire reports that Spider-Man 1-3 star Kirsten Dunst will get behind the camera to shoot a ghost flick. The film will be Dunst's directorial debut and will come in the form of a supernatural short that'll be part of Glamour magazine's "Reel Moments" that is a series of short films by women, based on stories submitted in letters by the magazine's readers. The movie, which is as yet untitled, will star Dunst and her real-life friend Michelle Williams in a ghost story inspired by classic scary films.
"I've always [been a fan of] Roman Polanski and, you know, Repulsion with Catherine Deneuve and, like, Rosemary's Baby," Dunst said. "I mean, those are my favorite movies. Don't Look Now. ... The Night Porter is one of my favorite movies. ... We just don't make movies like that any more."

Last week we got to hear that we might see the lovely Kate Beckinsale in the role of Barbarella in the new upcoming remake of the old sci-fi flick but IGN now reports that Beckinsale has confirmed that no one has even approached her about the film to begin with.
"I just found out myself today," the actress said last week from the set of the currently shooting WHITEOUT. "It's thrilling! I've never heard anything about it before today. One of the [Whiteout] crewmembers told me."
The remake is being scripted by Neal Purvis and Robert Wade who scripted CASINO ROYALE and there has been talk about both Lindsay Lohan and Drew Barrymore being up for the role but an unnamed insider told the British tabloid Daily Express last week that "the feeling is that Kate has just the right combination of beauty, humor, and acting talent for the part."
Beckinsale joked with IGN that if she did take the role, it would require a name change. "Beckinsale-arella!" she laughed. "It's gotta happen!"
